MMID Sunshine House Winter Drive

The Sunshine House Winter Drive

MMID Student Council will be holding a winter drive benefiting Sunshine House from December 5 – 20. Sunshine House is a community drop-in and resource centre focusing on harm reduction and social inclusion.

Sunshine house has indicated that items of greatest need include gently used outerwear, winter gear, underwear (new), socks (new), toiletries, non-perishable goods, among other items. The full list of items can be found here. To contribute physical goods, donors may place items in the Sunshine House collection box located in the BMSB 5th floor elevator lobby by the Christmas tree. If you are located at the NML or JCW, please contact us at mmid_sc@outlook.comto coordinate donation pickup.

Monetary donations are also accepted by cash or e-transfer. Following the collection period, a pooled financial contribution will be provided to Sunshine House. Cash donations may be given to Anh Pham in the MMID office, 543 BMSB. Donations by e-transfer can be sent to mmid_sc@outlook.com(Security Question: Purpose? / Answer: WinterDrive).

Christmas Cheer Board Feed-a-Family Program

The Fowke lab is putting together a holiday hamper through the Christmas Cheer Board Feed-a-Family Program. The hamper will support a family of 4, a mother and 3 boys (ages 2, 5 and 8 years old), through the holiday season. The full list of contributions needed for the hamper can be found here. To contribute physical goods, donors may place items in the Hamper collection box located in the BMSB 5th floor elevator lobby by the Christmas tree. Donors may also contribute by method of cash or e-transfer. Those inquiring to contribute to the hamper may contact Julie Lajoie (Julie.Lajoie@umanitoba.ca).
